Yet again, serious flooding in the UK: railway lines blocked, roads closed, villages flooded out.  In Devon they had 5 inches of rain in 24 hours.  This is getting to be a regular feature.

We had some strong rain in the last few days, interrupted by some hot interludes.

Weather completely unpredictable at the moment, scorching sun or floods of rain are both possible, either serially or even together.

Finally rainstorms blew away the 100F weather trend we were having here. Today we're still humid, but a good 15 degrees cooler than all last week.

It's getting serious here.  Most vegetable crops are badly damaged or not harvestable on the wet ground.  Cereals are looking pretty dire to my eye.  They should be looking at getting in the first of the barley by now, but that's not going to happen.  Cattle are back indoors because the pastures are soggy - that means buying in feed.

Hebden Bridge, where The Last Of The Summer Wine is filmed, has been flooded out for the third time this summer.  We're OK here, but nearby villages have been inundated in the past few days.

Hot weather but not intolerably so. Announced thunderstorms seem to have missed their flight and will arrive late.

Aw, we've been catching up with "Last of the Summer Wine", here, now that we have a WETA-UK station. You're flooding there, while much of the midwestern USA is in a bad drought.

Here on the east coast it's been okay. This past week was lovely, in fact. However, the hotter days of summer are scheduled to make a return by next Monday.
