Snowy fog, fog, and more fog, despite it being too cold to allow much moisture in the aire...

Gonna be cold in the field tomorrow...  -31C there tonight with a high of -23C tomorrow.  Good thing I have winter Nomex (stops freezing to death and burning to death at the same time ;)) and can duck in the truck to warm up once in a while.

Same site I was sick-as-a-dog at about a month ago, and probably will be sick-as-a-dog again tomorrow (cursed, I tell ya!); at least this time the discharge (or lack thereof) is from the sinuses / lungs and I'll be able to eat more than two bottles of ginger ale and bismuth subsalicylate*.  Oh, and probably a reasonable 12 to 14 hour workday instead of the 19-hr monstrosity in December (flew up and back, with flight delays on both ends; this time I drove and will be staying locally so no extreme temporal pressure).

*damn, forgot to pack the roast duck leftovers.  Gonna be Subway and pseudoephedrine I suppose...

Lovely sunny day today, not too hot, about 28°C (82°F).  Tomorrow more of the same, only warming up a bit.  Heading for high 30s (about 100°F) by Friday.

Cold, clear weather, with lots and lots and lots of snow. -17 or so here in the inner urban areas, -20 or so in the countryside outside Stockholm and inland Sweden is getting even colder. Certain areas of the provinces of Dalarna and Hälsingland had temperatures of -44 the night between monday and tuesday, and similar temperatures are expected to continue for at least a few more weeks. Working outside is a rather brisk and bracing activity!

Ayuh.... wasn't bad with the sun up today, but mah truck was displaying -32C by the time I left the site.  The radio weatherperson said lows of -34 tonight.

'It will probably snow to-morrow' they tell us for about a week now.
At least the snow already here shows no indication of leaving soon.

Light smattering of snow, white gardens and pavements, road gritted nicely.

The wind here has stayed up for days. It is quite tedious. When it gets like this, I think of the Mistral- nonstop winds that make some people go nuts. It is mildly stressful to hear the wind howl 24 hours a day for days on end. It's like waiting for the other shoe to drop- but in this case, it's waiting for a tree limb to come crashing down somewhere.

I'll be glad when it calms down.

Road has now disappeared under heavy snowstorm. Have discovered my parents have gone out in it, disobeying the govt. weather alerts. People in their late 80's with health and mobility problems should know better.

We got off lightly today. The moderate amount of snow being more than offset by the lower traffic volume due to the threat of snow.

We now have a respectable amount of snow. Maybe an inch. It snowed hard in short bursts, no staying power. The problem is melting snow now freezing into ice. No, that's not it. The problem is the government taking control of gritting. Even weather has to turn politicial. Mind, GB nearly slipped over in parliament today in another failed coup. I hope they gritted his teeth.

Bah, hotel connection ate my post (re: UK weather, they're reporting on it and playing soundbites from the locals on the CBC).

-35C at the work site this morning; I mostly huddled in the truck.  The heater was barely effective until the sun was well up.  Probably warmed up to -25 or so in the afternoon and felt quite lovely by comparison.

16 extra inches of snow announced for the weekend. I will believe it when I see it.
But I guess that it is true because it will cause even more havoc as far as the Deutsche Bahn is concerned and that would be espcially 'fitting' since my vacation ends on Monday and I have to travel the usual 2 hours by train to work.
