That 70s debauchery called Buck Rogers in the 25th century. It's terrible in so many aspects, yet I loved it as a kid and despite the terrible stereotypes, the cheesy costumes and the mixture of disco with the average for-TV-classical music, you have to give them credit for the production (for the time).

I (only) saw the original b/w serials that were at least as ridiculous.
But with those really old ones the trash factor is what makes them watchable in the first place :mrgreen:
Unfortunately they are not avilable over here on DVD.

But have you ever seen the Flesh Gordon (no typo) movies? :o

No but I just added it to my Netflix queue. I suspect it's superior to the actual title (Flash Gordon) from 1980, which is terrible.

Speaking of thrashy last-millenium SF, I am (well, recently finished) watching Cherry 2000, which can only be described as a minor classic in the genre.

For my birthday a few weeks ago, I got the complete seasons 1+2 of Carnivale, which Darlica and I have been watching every now and then. OK, I suppose I am a bit late to the show, but then again, I haven't had a TV since 1994, so I hope I can be excused. I must say that I find Carnivale to be quite good, with some episodes really, really good. I do have a certain fondness for Brother Justin... ;)

I watched that after the series was over, too.  It was ... creepy ... but compelling.

We dumped Satellite late last year because it was $80 a month and mostly trash. After six months of withdrawal symptoms ( I really missed nightly news and Jeopardy) we put up an antenna and got a digital converter box. Now we're getting around 30 channels of broadcast TV. Surprisingly, we now get several weather channels, a couple of retro TV channels, foreign language stations, home-oriented channels, and an all-movie station for free. (Okay, we spent around $200 for the equipment.) The picture quality is surprisingly good.

I especially love the weather channels, as they are totally local. (Gardeners tend to be weather-heads.)
