If you mean con-men (conservatives and confidence tricksters but I keep repeating myself), then clearly yes.

The phrase is pros and cons. It is for use when having to make a difficult decision. Shall I go shopping today? Pros (for): I need food. Lots of unexpected visitors may arrive tomorrow. There may be a flood and I won't be able to get out. Cons: (against) It's raining, I will get wet. I need to go back to sleep. If I have no food, I'll lose weight.

con ist actually wrong in this context. It should be contra (against) not con (together with), as it is used in German (and other languages that have not fallen under the American abbreviation spell).

I can't help it if an English idiom is wrong. Who would I complain to? The idiom police? (they are probably under-funded)

Prose sounds the same as pros - as we pronounce pros in pros and cons.
