I can't grow one worth keeping, so I don't bother.  I'm also contrarian enough to relish being clean shaven in an area where most guys grow at least a bit of scruff.

Do you mean you kept that first beard (after first shaving it*), that you never shaved since at all or only trimmed it since?

*a custom of antiquity. Romans shaved when reaching legal adulthood and kept the hair of that first beard (either at home or at a temple).

In basic training they cut your hair very short.  Not much more than stubble.  One guy figured he might as well go all the way and shaved off the stubble.  Mistake!  That was a sign of individuality and he got reprimanded for doing it.

Ummm... hopefully.

How'd your resolutions from last year turn out?  I think I went 4/12 on mine...  it was to take a pretty woman to dinner once a month (might have done a bit better than that if you count repeats).

This year? Find ways to socialize that don't involve alcohol.  Sort of a sneaky way of saying "drink less" (also cutting out the one-or-two beers at home on random week nights).  I'm in a new town this winter, so it's a bit of a challenge.  It's easier in that I don't have the same social cues and drinking friends from where I was last year, but it's harder to make new friends without a few drinks. I'm not totally off it and not averse to going out for a couple of beers on the weekend.  So far, the best thing I've found is dance church on Wednesday nights...  nice to be able to go dance any way you feel while completely sober.
