They're better made into sauce with some garlic, vinegar, salt and sugar.

In my experience flavour is all too often neglected when hotness is emphasized. I tested for example some different sorts of potato crisps. One was moderately hot (quite hot in comparision to standard) but also full of flavor. The other, from a specialised shop, could indeed be called very hot but was otherwise rather tasteless. It was not just hotness overpowering flavour, it was obvious that the latter crisps were short in flavouring ingredients apart from capsaicine carriers. The former on the other hand had more of both flavour and hotness than the average. While not competing with thes second sort on hotness, they were (and are) clearly the better choice. I once tried potato crisps with Wasabi. My judgement: battery acid. Since this impression was shared by the other family members, it was the first bag ever to get thrown away*.

I've noticed that as well.  I was sorely disappointed by these:

The heat wasn't exceptional, and the flavour was very poor.  The package design was probably the best part.

OTOH, I grew some actual naga bhut jolokia this year.  Unfortunately, they did not fully ripen, but even green they proved to be the most delicious peppers I have ever tasted.  Very fruity...   for the first three seconds or so.

This is the very good sort, one of my favourites

I think this is the one I bought at the special shop as a gift for my father and which turned out so disappointing (comparably)

The latter are available here, but I haven't actually tried them.  When I want a spicy chip, I prefer jalapeno-flavoured ones, which generally aren't too spicy but taste nice.

Miss Vickie's, Old Dutch or Kettle  are the most common brands at the moment. The original ones were by Thunder Crunch back in the 80's/90's, but the brand has disappeared.

I somehow get the impression that on avarage crisps were spicier when I was a kid and some very nice sorts disappeared from the market since then (I cannot even find the type anymore). This might have something to do that kids feel bitter and hot stuff stronger then adults (protective mechanism?) but cannot explain all of it. I was aware that the flavour of the standard potato crisps was changed several times (and not for the better) while some other sorts have stayed the same (e.g. the corn based ones with peanut flavour). I grew fond of some foreign sorts like 'salt and vinegar'. I encountered the stuff in the UK but could not get it in Germany for many years and had to bring some back from Norway. From Norway I also got a peculiar sort with a strong paprika flavour (not fruity) but this also disappeared from the market. One thing I will never forgive the Norwegians is that they now put sugar into their once formidable yoghurt. We always brought lots of the stuff back from the holidays because it was NOT sweet. Now there is more sugar in Norwegian yoghurt than in German one, and our Norwegian acquaintances love it (they can't understand why we don't). Bad Danish influence, I presume.

I found this to be a good read:

That was not only very informative but very much in line with some of my train of thoughts (albeit in a drastically deeper and comprehensive way*). I wholly agree with one of his quotes saying that it should be about dogma vs critical thinking instead of us vs them.

Yes, a lot of it resonated with me.  I'll have to check out more of the back-posts at the site (looks like the author has stopped adding new stuff).

Incidentally, I did check out a lecture by William Lane Craig (with Dennett giving a short response afterwards), and while I was impressed at his ability to present his arguments, I found the arguments themselves to be lacking. As far as I'm concerned, Lawrence Krauss's recent work (if accurate) has pulled the rug out on Craig's arguments on causality with regards to the origins of the universe.
