A karmavore would enhance the chances of his host to reach nirvana.

Last or you could also think the devil is karmavore hence claiming the souls of those with heavy karma Post

But it could also be just a predator that eats people with lots of karma.

I got it a few days ago, as soon as the extra clue was posted.

Last better get a new one in Post

OK, it's a relatively common place name (in North America) of colourful origins, but I won't be clueing to any of these towns.

Off to Brownsville we go?

Or to Greenville, Redmond, Blue Ridge Mountain, Yellowstone, White Sands, Blackriver, Colorado Springs?

He's on the right path, though.... let's see if I can throw him some red herrings. Note that town name is probably only significant to ensure the correct spelling is used.

The word (or a near-synonym) is often roasted for its juices.

A substitute for some uses can be prepared from a rhizome used for fixing leaking radiators and a psychoactive palm nut (I'm personally a fan of both ;)).

Last I have a few clues that would be a dead giveaway to Swato based on his areas of interest - I will avoid these for now Post

Zono - not as common of a town name as Springfield; in fact, it's applied more often to water bodies than municipalities in both Canada and the US.

Nice linkup on rhizome plus colour, although the rhizome clue (easily wiki-fu'd) will direct you to a more colourful relative.  Whether that's of any direct value is another story...   the colour of the rhizome is not the colour you are looking for, so you'd need to work through the full clue to progress.  Identifying the substitute use may be enough to get back on target.

More importantly, the actual LPWBW is either half or one-seventh* composed of a material the same colour as the the rhizome-derived material used to make the substitute.

*depending on how you tally it up

The problem is that I think I know that damned plant but the German wiki page has no English equivalent
Rubia tinctorum or Färberröte (Dyer's red), btw related to coffee. Source of alizarin (arab.: al-usara = juice) and purpurin
The psychoactive palm nut sounds like Betel (can be also used for a red dye). Did you have the red giant Betelgeuse in mind?

Last Post

PS: rubia tinctorum is 'madder' in English (and the color 'rose madder')(I had to go through the chemistry pages to get that). In a place name that could be derived from meadow.
