I agree, D... some years winter here is just kinda cold an gray, but it has really seemed like winter here this year, because of the persistence of the snow.

Temperatures dancing around zero with occasional snow. Feels rather mild. The problem is that many sidewalks and ways are now covered with hard ice. Where it is even there is danger of slipping and falling down, where it is uneven the danger is ankle-twisting. Fresh snow, even powdery, gives a bit of a grip, so I'd actually prefer to leave a thin layer of it where there is ice.
Knurrhähne sind eßbar aber empfehlen würde ich das nicht unbedingt.
The aspitriglos is edible though I do not actually recommend it.

Just plain blooming miserable here!  Cold, damp and threats of more snow, just as the last lot has gone.  Send us some air tickets, Bluenose!

Very similar here, temperature-wise, though the snow has slowed down as it's warmed up.

I would contend that a skiff of powder over ice makes things even worse.  Glue some rocksalt to your bootsoles, it works a treat. ;)

More snow expected today and even more on Friday. If we ever get a "Nunsense" choreography rehearsal in before the show, I'll eat my wimple!

There is an extrem shortage of salt for that purpose at the moment. The mines can't dig up enough to keep up with the demand and the stored reserves are depleted. Even some highways cannot be treated currently.

Ayuh, but surely you have water softeners?  A few smallish lumps from a bag of water softener salt would be more than adequate, and would last long enough to be worth the hassle - perhaps wire it in place rather than using glue (which would not hold dissolving salt). Even though the original suggestion was facetious. ;)

Chilly (-8) and foggy this morning.

Our trace to 2" prediction for last night turned up four inches of snow today. Lots more predicted for this weekend.

Swatopluk

To get around her safely glacier walking/climbing equipment seems necessary. Could someone lend me a pickaxe or a flamethrower to create a safe pathway from here to the railway station?

Pickaxe, yes; flamethrower.... we'll talk. ;)

Foggy and humid around here lately, with spectacular hoar frost over everything.

Opsa

We got two feet of snow here this past weekend and are expecting more tomorrow.

It's absolutely beautiful here. It took Mr. Ops and I on and off Saturday and Sunday to dig out our driveway- where do you throw the snow when the drifts are taller than you? But I'll tell ya- I feel like I did the equivalent of about 500 situps- I feels da burn, and it feels good!

beagle

Managed to snow for exactly the hour I walked to Tesco.  More serious stuff hinted at for Thursday/Friday, but not U.S. levels...

Hang in there Ops...! That's some serious snow.

maybe this thread has spread Canadian weather to all nations as promised?

Wouldn't mind some proper weather, either baking hot or totally frozen, but this "temperate" nonsense is getting wearing..

From what Swato has told us about himself, I think the pickaxe may be the more dangerous ;)

Snowing here. Temp. around zero. Feelsmuch colder.

I thought we weren't supposed to get snow til later in the week. We were scheduled rain. Presumably we all watch the forecasts in case they are right, sort of random TV generator, because I cannot think of any other reason to bother.
