I'm about 1/2 way through "Storm Front: The Dresdin Files", book 1

Yes,*that* Dresdin Files, the short-lived series on SciFi a while back.

The book is better than the series, and I *liked* the series.

Think Film Noir, with a bit of magic thrown in. Only few ordinary folk believe in magic....

Or, Philip Marloe with a wand. Sortof. He carries a gun, too...

Darkly humorous, seriously evil evil, magic, sympathetic "monsters", and monstrous humans (natch) round it out.

Characterization is quite good. Dresdin is not a super-hero by any means; rather he's a very ordinary guy with a (sortof) advantage: he's also a genuine wizard.

Recommended.

Is that title intended to lure nazi sympathizers in to convert them?  ;)
Knurrhähne sind eßbar aber empfehlen würde ich das nicht unbedingt.
The aspitriglos is edible though I do not actually recommend it.

???

I don't get your reference, sorry.

The title is the Author's, not mine.

I meant the book title.
Stormfront (among others the most notorious nazi web presence in the US) in combination with something looking like a misspelled Dresden (infamous for the late WW2 bombardment) looks a bit too much for a coincidence. Without background information I would have taken that to be a book either by or about nazis. Which does not imply any evil/nazi intentions of the author from my side though.

Ha!

The title is simply "Stormfront".  Dresden is simply the character's name.  I think the Amazon blurb wanted to catch fans of the ill-fated TV show (successfully in my case).

As the story unfolds, it makes sense, literary-wise.

AND, I miss-spelled the name Dresden in the thread title......  *bleah*

Might have to get into this series.  I did enjoy the show, glad (but not surprised) to hear the book is better.  Author hunting at the moment, and while I keep trying to convince myself I *am not* primarily a fantasy reader (when reading fiction), that tends to be what I gravitate to. :P
WWDDD?

I've read all the Dresdin books, 1 through 11 and enjoyed all of them immensely.

I now see #12 is out, and #13 is in pre-release (Kindle).

Thanks for reminding me of the series enough to check how many books there were, and that there's a new couple I've not yet read.

:)

Edit:  Correction, #12 is to be published April of this year.  There is no 13 as far as I know.

Still, thanks for the comment, causing me to check Amazon...

Thanks for the recommendation!  I think the original thread may have been started before I watched the show, and it didn't register.

I requested the first three from the library, along with a graphic-novel adaptation of Stormfront.

Graphic novel?  I'll have to check that out-- sounds interesting.
