There's this group of pink-sarri'd women vigilantees who come to the aid of abused women. They also go after corrupt government officials.

I think we could use a little of that, over here in the good'ole Yew Ess of Ay.

Yes, indeedy.  They can start out in the Bushista household....

Personally I'm not that fond of vigilante movements justice with out trial often have a tendency become as corrupt and violent as the people it wants to hunt down. The line between a vigilante troop and a bloodthirsty mob can be dangerously thin. :-\

That said, I do understand these women and I applaud them for standing up for each other.
I guess, as long as they stay away from killing they are doing a good thing. And I think the shaming tactics are actually more effective than a downright beating put in an Hindu context.

Oh, I agree, on several (if not all) points you raise.

Shaming would work-- if the recipient had any to begin with.

The politicians in the US seem to lack that quality completely.  Certainly the Current Occupant never demonstrates any.  The only thing they seem to understand is a reduction of their power.

Having read some psychology and having spent years in therapy I would say that yes, the leader of your current administration probably has issues with shame but no, it is not because he lacks it...  ::) ;)

Common-sense he might lack, any sense for that matter but with a background like his, and with the kind of values he says he stands for shame is a too vital ingredient to lack. I'd say that he probably has to much of it and that it takes on all sorts of strange manifestations from homophobia to letting schools teach creationism.

He and most of the religious right wing people would probably be a lot better humans if they had a little less shame!

Are you suggesting that they are so ashamed of themselves that they need to find someone else they consider worse  to be able to endure their lives? I would wholeheartedly agree in the case of many fundies, but in the case of white house officials, I believe the only thing that matters is power and catering to the fundies is only a way to keep that power. They don't understand the word shame much less the word honor.

You have a very good point there. I stand corrected.
