It had all the potential for a great picture (Lee, Cushing, great sets, pretty princess, cute Indian boy with pet monkey, decent special effects...) but the result is mediocre. Was there no wooden plank available to add some charisma to the nominal princely hero role? Unlike the critics I found the aerial battle between good and bad guys on flying carpets over the city quite an interesting Star Wars rip-off though.

Wednesday's Torchwood.  They saved Cardiff from destruction again, but otherwise OK.

Gorgo (1960). Why should Godzilla&Co just destroy Tokyo. Here London gets it for kidnapping the  baby of the mother beast (who could have guessed that the 60 feet specimen was not the adult?). Got an Oscar nomination for special effects then, today they are laughable (except for the demolition of Tower Bridge; that still looks good). But that's part of the appeal of these old movies.
