And I don't see him logged on all the time!

As a European my log-in time overlaps only partially with that of a typical USian (or Canadian, Mexican, otherwise-American).
Since I idle most of the day in front of the screen, I can easily refresh regularly, meaning that 8 hours of being logged in per day are not that difficult to achieve. That way I can also answer to any post that does not slip through the shoddy programming.
