Clue explanation (aka mop-up)
he-te-ro-dox sounds like one of those (fake) cures for homosexuality but since conservatives hate any deviation from orthodox doctrine they hate it.
If one misspells it one could end up with 'herero dux', that would be the Latin term for the leader of the South African Herero nation/tribe, nearly wiped out by the German general Trotha (whom I alluded to via 'Trotter', the original name for the LotR character that later would become Aragorn. I used that clue on another occasion for an earlier LPWB already, so no excuse for not knowing it ).
A synonym is of course heretic that can be read as 'here tic(k)', i.e. arachnids notorious for spreading meningitis (=>brain damage) and Borreliosis (Lyme disease => allusion to lime). I dropped some hints about the treatment of LPWBers (=Y torture, birning at the stake).
There were hints towards heterogeneous catalyis and to the opposition of hetero/homo and hetero/ortho. I also mentioned that the mixed language (English/greek) version un-orthodox has not exactly the same meaning as the pure Greek hetero-dox.
I did not use the allusion to Greek whores (hetairo-...)
