Used to be a watcher of all the 80's commercialtoons, but I really can't have any loyalty to those since they were so merchandise-oriented.  I still have hundreds of ad jingles from that era permanently etched in my brain - some remarkably obscure ones included.

I used to be able to tell you how many said "yes"* in every town.  Now all I remember is that in Chilliwack, it was 77%.

I do get a kick out of watching movies now that my parents taped off TV in back in the day, especially the commercials

"waiting for the proposed GST before buying furniture?  Buy it now and if the price goes down, we'll refund the difference!"

"buy your car now and you'll get low 10% financing!"

*to switching from their regular pain relief medicine to Aspirin, in surveys in various locations in Canada, as part of an ad campaign in the early/mid 80s.

Flower Pot Men...    :)

Little Weed?

They don't make childrens TV like that any more., although whoever thought up Tellytubbies may have been on something similar.

Pinky and Perky was good too.

Heh, I assume you've seen the Rainbow episode clip about 'plucking'?
WWDDD?

The Meromorph

Is that the 'Twangers' episode?

I still do Bill and Ben voices for 'knee highs'. They don't know what it's about but the voices have 'em fallibg about laughing.

I think that's the 'twangers' one also...   it's plucking good. ;)
WWDDD?

Opsa

How about "Astroboy", "Speed Racer" and "Kimba the White Lion"?

Anyone remember the old Marionation shows, like "Fireball XL5" and "The Thunderbirds"?

I guess they made a spoof movie of the Thunderbirds not long ago.

I have a metal lunchbox collection, and one of my best ones is "Fireball XL-5".

HR Puffinstuff

I can remember a bunch of people in costumes driving a big Banana Split .
I'm convinced that the little hum along...na na na..nana na na . na na na nana na na.... was stolen by Bob Marley and the Wailers in Buffalo Soldier !.

...The old Harvey cartoons..." Hi my name is Casper , can I be your friend ?'...Catnip and Herman the Mouse... I haven't seen one in over 30yrs .
Small wonder they don't show them when we have Catnip cooking mice alive en masse over  spits and so forth .

Scriblerus the Philosophe

I watched Speed Racer as often as it was on as a little kid, as well as Ren and Stimpy and Pinky and the Brain, and the Animaniacs.

Let me tell you, The Boohbahs were drug induced, if that's what you mean. This was Telly-Tubbies on 'shrooms. (My nieces went through an unforuntate phase where I had to watch The Boohbahs when I was over)

Game Boys make me nostalgic. I brought my Game Boy Color with me when I went to my aunt's, and my nine year old cousin asked me if was an antique.

Game Boy!

I only recently stopped seeing falling blocks when I look at solid surfaces.   ;D

That reminds me of the old Atari system . I wish I hadn't tossed it all those years ago , I hear they are a collectors item .

You're thinking of "The Banana Splits" http://www.nostalgiacentral.com/tv/kids/bananasplits.htm , which I loved! And yes, the Marley song sounds just like it! When I first heard "Buffalo Soldiers", I was in the 930 Club in D.C. and a bunch of us started singing
"One banana, two banana, three banana four
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more,
Flippin' like a pancake, Poppin' like a cork-
Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snork..."

"HR Puffenstuff" http://www.retrojunk.com/details_tvshows/496-hr-pufnstuf/ was really weird, and we were convinced that the opening lyrics "...and I will take you on a trip..." referred to acid!

My fave Kroft Bros. show was "The Bugaloos!" http://www.retrojunk.com/details_tvshows/1979-the-bugaloos/

The Meromorph

I was convincingly informed that 'H.R. Puffenstuff' was named after the 'Hanoi Red' 'brand' of cannabis resin, re-interpret the song in that light and it makes a lot more sense. The cartoons are a lot funnier if you're stoned on good marijuana, too.  :P
Ah! Salad days!.

I still have a Pong!--- the original hand held Pong!- it is about 7 inches by 10 inches and the pixels are as big as pencil erasers! Takes like 1million D batteries and such too. I looked for a photo on Wiki but not one to be found :'(
Also still have some Atari stuff- including the "robot" that you could play against.
Have some floppy discs that are from a Comodore 64 computer from about 1980 - they are as big as dessert plates.

I used to beat my brothers up with their Stretch Armstrong stretchy Armstrong"action-figure" - he was eventually so limber that I could wham them around the corner with it and then run like the devil!
