Has anyone had a go at the game 'Second Life'?

Never heard of it. Got a link to a demo?

my webpage-- alas, Cox deleted it--dead link... oh well ::)

Sorry to be so lazy but if you just Google 'Second Life' you'll find it. It's really weird and quite vast.

I remember this now.  There was a bit about it on NPR about a week or three ago.

Apparently, there is a genuine newspaper office in the virtual world, staffed by a genuine reporter-type-guy.

There also seems to be a teeny-version.

Does anyone know how the Karma system works here? I was wondering because I have -107. If ya'll don't like me I can leave... :'(

Call me crazy, but the question seems avoided. I think I have a good idea of the Karma system, but I was simply wondering how one's Karma gets so low when one is not even here. :)

Ahh but one's posts are here, even when one is not... And if, for example, one post had the capability of pissing some people off, then, as more people read it, or even as people re-read it from time to time, then the intemperate might 'smite on sight'. I don't know if that's what happened, but it's a possibility. Might not even be a post on here! We expect the Toadfish to be a deal more responsible than that, which is one of the reasons, it's now limited. :)

Perhaps I underestimated your collective hindsight.

But I don't see why the Karma system, if used at all, should be limited. I myself will never use it (for one reason or another), but if people want to express their feelings towards a person, I don't see why they should be restricted. If it "offends", then whose fault is that? People will  indicate their opinions of a person if given the chance, no matter how it turns out.

Agreed - but the karma is completely anonymous, and that was part of the problem.  Without it, if one does not agree, one must actually comment - "in person" as it were.
