For something completely different: I propose to rename Texas Augeas.
Reasons:
1. Lots of cattle producing stinking manure (literal meaning)
2. State political and judicial system is a rotten heap of manure and bullshit (metaphorical meaning)
3. It could be sold to the less educated Texans as being Latin for 'You may profit' (which is actually true)

The Gulf is known in different countries under different names (Arabian, Persian...), as is the Baltic Sea.
The Gulf of Mexico is the US' mare nostrum (at least it is treated that way).

That engraving looks hilarious in itself (and the guy quite high on controlled substances) but the lower rim of that cloudhole makes it look like exhasut from the saint's back.
