The rolling gerbil is hilarious. What does it mean?

I think it is supposed to be a cat! But it does look much more like a gerbil or a guinea pig. 

I intend to use it as a symbol of general silliness.

it's a cat(kitten) mine do it when they see me- the stop, flop and roll
I've learned that in "cat language" it means that the can-opener person (what we silly humans call an owner) is supposed to immediately stop all other activity and do belly rubs until "CAT" is bored.

Very Pavlovian.  You should've seen the "therapist hat" that B.F. Skinner wanted.  And the one Freud had was just rude.
