I hoped that this was just comedy, but whew, what propaganda it appears to be! My Dad is a scientist and no-one ever told him that he couldn't believe in God (which he does), or that his religious beliefs were in conflict with his career. That is flat-out sensationalist deception.

Eww, I can't wait for my fundy brother to start passing this carp around. That'll be fun. He always responds to this sort of ridiculous stimuli.

The only thing of interest was a nice surprise seeing a nice guy I used to know saying Intelligent Design is not a Research Program. He's not a scientist though he is an academic.... I coudln't quite work out why he was in the video.

Yup.  Pure propaganda.

I have been following this since it first appeared on Pharyngula.  Seems the "Expelled" guys interviewed several scientists, including Richard Dawkins, under the pretense that it was a very different movie.  They even had fake web sites so the scientists would believe they were for real.

And it has just gotten sillier and sillier.

They are offering schools a rebate on theater tickets if they get lots of students to go see the movie.  Up to $5 per ticket...providing funds are available.  Yeah, right.

And now they are up in arms because they sent an invitation to a science reporter to see a preview, he went to see it, and wrote a review panning it.  They claim the reporter snuck in pretending to be a preacher...since only preachers were supposed to be invited.

Lots of other silliness involved.

The reason I thought it might be comedy is because I onlly know Ben Stein from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and the TV show "Win Ben Stein's Money". And the Nixon stuff. I guess I just felt he COULDN'T be serious!

More on the silly movie Expelled.

In case you've not been watching, PZ Meyers (a noted scientist and blog-writer) went with his family and Richard Dawkins to see a pre-screening of Expelled!.

Myers was not allowed in-- he was spotted by the producer, and ejected.  In Myer's own words, "peaceably, and with no fuss".  Apparently, the producer is something of a jerk, and now admits that he just wanted Myers to have to pay to see the film.

Anyway, one of the guests of Myers, along with Myer's wife and daughter, was Richard Dawkins-- yes that Dawkins.

None of these were spotted as "anti-creationists" and allowed into the screening.

They all report it was abysmal.

I especially like this line: "Dawkins apparently acknowledged that he had not been invited and did not have a ticket."

No mention that NO ONE had a ticket.  No mention that NO ONE was actually invited. Read Dawkin's account for his version of what happened.

Well, he is totally forgettable.  Particularly those annoying eye drop commercials from several years back.  His voice was enough to make you NEVER buy that product again.
