I never did like plum pudding , I made one from a recipe about 35 years ago and have avoided the thing as if it were haggis . A slice of pudding doesn't seem right to me  .Pudding ought to be jelly like and only chocolate  flavoured ...but thats just me.

I learned to like 'that kind' of pudding when I lived in New Orleans.

BC, a lot of plum pudding recipes are made using suet, they are very heavy and although many people like them, the recipe I use is much lighter.  The flavour is much the same, I suppose, and although it is still pretty rich it does not sit on your gullet like a great big lump of wet cement.

PS.  For those interested in making the recipe, although it does not say so, I use unsalted butter in the pudding.
