I also expect that Hillary Clinton would lose against McCain*.
I think there is a silver lining though in any case. If Obama is not the nominee and Hillary loses, he can try again in 2012.
He "came from nowhere" and fought the establishment favorite to a close tie. Next time he would be both "known" and could claim more experience (while the "establishment candidate" has lost again in 2008). Edwards and Kerry on the other hand are (probably) "burned" for good as presidential candidates ("known losers").

*I just wait for the first right-wing fundie to "point out" that McCain means The Son of Cain and that this is G*d's warning not to vote for him (they clearly would do, if McCain were the Dem candidate, cf. Hussein O-s/b-ama)

Hm, true. Swato. Hadn't thought of that.

Bob--not frightened of of She Who Must Not Ba Named herself. I simply dislike her. I lost the ability to like her after listening to her try to paint herself as middle class because she had to pay her own way into law school. I'm middle class and even though I'm at a community college, if my parents had to pay for my schooling, they couldn't do it (It runs about $300 a semester, with an additional $300 or so for books). I can't even consider asking for much help once I'm beyond community, much less paying for law school.
I also disliked the way she pandered to my community--talking about clean air, education and health care only. Though, granted, these are important issues around here, there are more issues than that, and that she skated over them really bothers me.
I trust her about as far as I can throw her, and I don't think she'll make the changes we need in order to gain some iota of self-respect back.

In this statement alone, you demonstrate that you have actual Thoughts.....

And that can only be a Good Thing.

One needs to ALWAYS remember, that anyone who WANTS to be a politician-- should have his/her motives CAREFULLY scrutinized.

And then immediately disqualified.... (if only we could!)

Who was it who said, (R.A. Heinlien?) anyone who wants a political office should be examined for sanity*.  If found sane, then they should be immediately disqualified.  For it is a thankless job.  About the only reason a sane person would want it, is for the Power it grants.

* note that Mr Heinlein did not say that an insane person should also be disqualified.   Perhaps he was on to something...

Well, I guess it is official...Romney is out of the running.  Jon Stewart's take on A Daily Show last night (Feb 7) was hilarious.

Mormon Mitt got out with a nasty parting shot that will probably (again*) be the main line of attack by the GOPsters: Voting for Democrats is surrendering to the terrorists.
Let's reword this a bit: Is it better to vote in favor of the terrorists at home or those abroad? Be patriotic and choose the domestic variant! GOP it is!

*After Cheney's: Vote for us or the terrorists will kill you (and if they don't, we will)
