Thread drift, isn't that more a rule than a exception at this place?! :D

Well, the privacy issue is the reason I'm not on Facebook ant the like of it...
Now days this is the only social place I visit on the net I've cut down the time I spend on-line drastically the last one and a half year, I miss spending more time here but otherwise I feel no need to hang on-line more.

I thought about joining facebook some time ago so I could keep in touch with some former colleagues but I ended-up giving them my private cellphone number instead, less intrusion of my privacy in the long run. :-\

The reason I went for a smartphone was because I'm sick and tired of lugging around my cellphone, a thick calender and a notebook when every cubic centimetre and every gram counts.
Especially since I can't find a calender that fit my needs.
*Grumble* not everyone work 8-17 and have less to do on weekends... *Grumble*

Also those times when I do have some extra room to spare I'll rather bring a sketch book or my knitting than my rather boring calender... Hey I can even fit a e-book or ten in the phone thingy! ;D

I know Google spy on me... and I'm not happy about it.
That said, I couldn't see that a iPhone or a MS phone would be any better so I went for what I perceived as the lesser evil... ::)

People I'm in touch with on a regular basis (friends, colleagues and family) people I would give my regular (home) e-mail also have the new G-mail one, I consider it to be as private as my phone number.

I won't do much surfing from the phone thingy, I'll do that from home where I can hide in a forest of proxies if I like to. ;D

I'm starting to make myself at home now, I still havn't figured out everything but that's OK, I'm quite happy with the thingy anyway. ;)

Oh, and I was reminded of that because... the forum may be anonymous to the outside (or so we hope), but to us you are not anonymous. Not at all.... ;) :P :devil2:

Oh, you lot...  yes, y'all could find me but I think I'm handier with an axe than anyone on this continent.  ;)

our Euro-Siblings seem a particularly dangerous lot to me, although some of the Yanks are armed and dangerous IIRC

Better you just tell me you're coming so I have a chance to get dinner ready, no?

That may well be, however, some of us do not reside on that continent and also have ready access to certain highly portable nasty bitey critters...   :mua:

My combat hamsters are slavering at the bit, ready to massacre intruders.  And I'm handy with a chainsaw.  :mua:

Seriously, I just have a very ordinary old mobile phone with none of these frills.  I stay away from Facebook and such stuff.

As for email addies, we currently have six going and are choosy about who sees which.  If one of the more public ones ever gets annoyingly spammed, I delete it and start another.  I have my own domain-name, for which I pay about £6.50 every two years, and I get 10 addresses on that, plus 10 on the name my IP allotted me.

Just slip a few in your pocket, mate, and see how far you make it.

Really, this line of discussion is quite untaddy; of course we wouldn't fight each other with anything except cutlasses.    :yar:
