I was going to watch Captain wotsits Mandolin.

But the UK is reeling from the outcome of the trial of the drinks bottles airlines "alleged" plot plotters last summer.

So, the BBC in their infinite wisdom replaced it with a Panorama expose of the "alleged" plot and the security services....... followed by Honeymoon in Vegas.......... both of which I watched instead.

How did they ever come up with that combination?

The book's excellent. I never watched the film because I'd heard they'd massacred it.

Some discovery channel documentary about submarines (again telling us how how super duper great the US are)

I saw a U.S. documentary once on the World history of radio. Marconi got less than one minute (Faraday/Hertz/Maxwell etc nothing) and the whole of the rest of the program was about technical battles between RCA and some other corporation whose name I forget. I have a feeling it may have been sponsored

That's my impression with most US documentaries. But few are as open about it as Flaherty with his Louisiana Story

I ought to post here, but I'm reading Toadfish stuff, and only listening so, I posted over in "listening to" instead.  Besides, I've seen it about a hundred and one point three-five times.

Watched Fringe on Fox network (I know, I know....)

It's so far a complete copy/rip-off of X-files that I'm intrigued.  (I liked X-files for the first 3 seasons or so...)

Pilot was only 90 minutes, instead of the overly-full of fluff/filler 2 hours.  Fast paced.  Not unlike a BBC America drama.  (not a criticism)

Will watch the first coupla episodes to see if it can fly.

Or, will I fall deeply in love with the series, and therefore ensure it's complete destruction before the first season's complete?

Time will tell.
