On a sidenote, how big must the pictures be, in order to be able to put them instead of the stars, and which format?

I was thinking of making small beer mugs for further use, and ask if it would be possible to put them in...

Due to persistent uneasiness about the Karma system, and yet it's manifest usefulness, we decided to try out some variations on it available on the forum software. It now shows only the net of the plusses and minusses given. And we relabeled it from 'Karma' to 'Warm and Fuzzies'. We also relabeled 'applaud' and 'smite' (the methods of assigning + and - Karma), to 'hug' and 'hiss' respectively.
We had already restricted the giving of Karma to full Toadfish, to avoid some excesses we felt might have arisen from more casual usage. It is currently intended to be one factor in the evaluation of candidates for Election to Toadfish Novice and Toadfish.

We've already replaced the stars with Owls, Toadfish, and Pirate (Skull and Crossbones) symbols. They are associated with 'Member Groups' by the Forum software. In order to accommodate both Toadfish and Pirates and those who have an emotional attachmented to the Skull and Crossbones, this has resulted in a complex but (barely) manageable set of 'pseudo-groups' to allow for all the permutations. Adding just one more set of symbols would further complicate the system by at least another order of magnitude. I would be regretfully unable to keep track. It requires someone with Admin priviledges to maintain it, and I don't think any of the current Admins have any need or capacity for what coulds rapidly become a 'full-time hobby'. I agree it's cute, and I wish there were some other way to do it (assigning each person an idividual 'star' gif for example).

One suggestion you might follow on your own is to put your preferred emblem in your Signature...

I am indeed sorry to learn of your commitment to a life of continuing unhappiness!  The only consolation I can, at this point, offer, and I am uncomfortably aware of how inadequate this may be in your present unhappy state of distress, is that should you in due course be elected to what we have heretofore considered to be the happy state of full Toadfish sibling, a petition to change the 'hiss' to 'bleat' would be given favorable consideration. It would not, however, involve an elevation to 'Big Billy Goat Gruff'.
