Something completely different:
I prefer to download youtube videos to watch them independent of the changing transmission speed. But for some time now I find that the downloaded files more and more often do not have the original audio but a AI generated German translation (which is not actually bad quality by itself). BUT I DO NOT WANT THAT. But even by switching to a different download program that allows a choice of subtitles and formats I cannot get rid of that. ALL FILES have the translated audio instead of the original. So I am forced to rely on streaming directly from youtube.
And from what I hear this plague is expected to spread further. It's probably only a matter of time until the original audio will not be available at all anymore [There are already complaints from users that for them youtube has made it the default option that has to get switched off for every video individually] . And I do not want to run a VPN just to pretend to be in the country of origin of the video to get around that.

Considering that the videos were supposed to be streamed (where you can choose the audio track), you are dependent on the service that is downloading them. I'd say you should check the URL of the video and make sure it isn't a .de address (or some other identifier of your location). Beyond that it gets difficult.

From what I find, the system identifies the position of the downloading entity and chooses accordingly. I have found an alternative downloader that seems not to do that, although the free version is a bit limited.

These days it's sufficient for youtube most of the time but download speed can vary significantly. I assume the bottleneck is usually elsewhere.
