A new crepuscular anteater found solace in tapping syncopated rhythms using its front teeth and certain keepers held barely back by wire entanglements installed by nefarious and malodorous penguins.  Meanwhile, within a crenellated battlement on top of a gothically inspired garden shed the multifarious congregation of dispassionate but elaborately coiffed and manicured chow chows held a conference of (to them) unknown importance. I thought I'd put the new one in Siblings - it would be the last one in the list. But it seems just putting the .jpg in the list is not sufficient. Perhaps it is a pointer to the "attachment" version that should go in the list. Perhaps one day I will check this out but too busy right now.

Nope, in fact I tried to upload a new one (couldn't find the old one) and it doesn't show.

I thought yours was number 35 in the Sibling list. Check it out. But wouldn't rely on my memory.

I don't think a new one (uploaded) would go into the Sibling list as I just invented that. Can you see if it uploaded to one of the other lists. I don't know of any reason why it shouldn't show up somewhere. Might try uploading one myself.

Another thought. Is this the one you uploaded?
If so, I think I know what is happening. Uploads go into directory "attachments" but the profile editor only offers ones in directory "avatars". None of the avatars in "attachments" get into "avatars". It's a design fault. After an upload there should be a question to ask where to store the image. Then one could choose, for example, "avatars" / "Siblings". I've put the image shown above into the Siblings list.

It's teething problems. It was a nightmare migration/upgrade.

How come they couldn't agree on a Speaker (was it 15 votes?) but now it took them less than a day?

Quote from: Swatopluk on October 14, 2023, 07:44:51 AMI can select it but that seems not to be the problem. Even if I choose 'no avatar', I get the same error message. And no, there is no '<' or the like anywhere I can see.

There is a bug in SMF 2.1.4 (this latest version) such that quotes in profile cause the HTML error message. Both single and double quotes. Your profile has a field with a single quote - if you remove it/reword it then the bug should go away and save should work. It will be corrected in 2.1.5 but as far as I can see that is a long way off.

Last I missed you Post

Can you see your avatar in the list? (see migration thread in "Forum Stuff"). Swato gets a message he can't save his into his profile as it finds html which is a mystery so would be good to know if you do too. And yes, I missed you too.

Swato, I'll look at forever another time. Quite busy, but sometime. I always do forever, I'm sure we didn't have to set it every login before. These software upgrades always seem to make things worse not better.
