The college are charging whatever they feel like for our supervision classes which are compulsory if we want to finish the Diploma. They've just hiked the price again and we have no alternative but to pay it or give up. Rant One.
Rant Two is worse.
They wrote telling us the dates for the six supervisions through Jan-Mar, once a fortnight, the cost and demanding payment up front.
So I completely arranged my life so that I could make the dates (having paid through the nose.....).
Our first one is Monday.
I booked my two nights in hospital to fit in, I booked all my appointments thru Jan-Mar to fit in, all involves other people like agency meetings, clients, and not least my having specified days to rest completely to make the dates.
So, Friday evening, I've just had a text message saying the classes arent starting Monday fortinightly. Because they failed to organise a class room. They dont know when the classes will be or when they will start.
There is no way I can re-organise all the various appointments thru jan-mar to accomodate some other college superivision pattern. There's no way I can get to classess if I haven't had adequate rest days at the right times.
There's no way I can get the Diploma if I dont do the classes.
I am hopping mad, sick to my stomach at this, merely the latest in three years worth of similar college misfunctioning.
How can these people get away with this?
I tried talking to the Standards Agency and they say it's not actually against the law. Basically the college can do whatever they like. I just don't undertsand.
Do you have any sort of "civil rights for the disabled" programs? Any news organizations with interest in pointing out the waste and lack of planning and such that disrupts lives?

Ooh, gators in the Thames. Now there's a thought.
We have excellent disability legislation. On paper.
But it's rarely effective. Cases rarely reach the courts. Cases which do, generally take around 5 years during which the person fighting for their rights gets their life and character torn apart.
The college is broke - seriously - almost certainly terminally.
I'm not interested in exposing them or fighting. I just want the damned Diploma and I am about six inches away from getting it.
I made enormous compromises to fit in the required dates/hours for the next three months and I'm tired. I was/am struggling to find the energy to just do it, never mind having to turn around and work out some new plans which will involve nasty arguments (nasty arguments take energy).
I shall wait and see how bad it is - like what dates they come up with - then decide on what action to take.
It's one of those tricky ones where I'm hoping they will put themselves so clearly in the wrong they will have to reach an agreement with me.
I'm also trying to work out how I could possibly get enough client hours in this term not to need to do the summer term. But my maths keeps telling me it's impossible.
I am so very sorry dear one- this truly stinks to high heaven.....
Indeed it does. I can smell it all the way across the pond.
Here's what I might do:
1) Go to the highest authority and very humbly, apologetically (I know it's not your fault, but evoking goodwill can really help) and agreeably explain how glad you are for the education so far, how close you are to your diploma and how you have arranged everything in your schedule to fit to the previous agenda. Then ask if there is any way you can move ahead to obtain one.
2) In the meantime, be checking out other schools that may be of help.
3) Gators sold here: http://www.traderdon.com/livegator.html
Thanks. Opsa I already have the email semi composed in my head for option 2) - I've had email exchanges with head poncho before so easy to approach him - assuming he wasn't one of the many redundancies last summer LOL.

If there are uncomfortable questions, blame Global Warning, and Tony Blair. Or the other way round.
They've gone and done it; altered the alternate weeks to the ones that don't fit my schedule.
The tutor said the college nearly scrapped the whole thing.
I'm so exhausted right now, I can't even face composing an email.
Good Lord! It figures they'd do something stoopid like that.
