* when I was VERY young, I had a series of strong allergies-- I was allergic to nearly everything. (sometimes, I think it was really nose-hair---mine. ) Anyway, my parents were always looking for some patent-medicine or other to help me with my main allergy: asthma (and the associated breathing difficulties).  And I STILL remember the awful taste of one particular blue-greenish liquid.  Was really, REALLY bad to a 6yr old.

Years and years later, I was at a party, and my friend offered me a taste of very expensive cognac, with an expectation that I would be impressed with it.

It was so close to that horrible blue-green stuff that I nearly gagged.

I've never appreciated cognac since.
