Actually I don't even know what happens next anymore, I heard in the radio that while the original purpose of the NRA was to increase the profits of the gun manufacturers, some of the more extreme positions aren't liked but the genie is out of the bottle and if the crazy don't approve the policies of the gun manufacturers they can stop shopping their stuff and break them.

Actually the NRA became the lobbying arm of the arms manufaturers, they did not start that way. It took a coup to oust the moderate pro-gun-but-also-pro-gun-safety organization into what it is today, an outfit that considers its own members useful dupes that can be used as the muscles for the masters.
