Well, the fairy-tale records I had had the effect of giving me a Nutcracker overdose.
I cannot listen to that Tschaikovsky piece anymore because each and every fairy-tale record used that as background music.
I wonder why Rimsky-Korsakov did not suffer the same fate, since he also produced tons of fairy-tale music.
Not catchy enough, I presume.

I think this specific danger is over. The days of kids listening to classic fairy-tale readings/audioplays that use classical (actually high romantic) music are, unfotunately, over. Kids these days would not even know about the very existence of these classics when Hollywood and Accomplices would not churn out movies allegedly based on them. And use of old music in those is very low, it's either fake neoromantic of 'flashy' new.
As I have often said: After The Hunchback of Notre-Dame with a happy ending it is only a matter of time before we get a vegan version of Titus Andronicus

Admittedly I liked this (just the scene, not really the movie as a whole).

Somewhere on the net there is the quite intricate story of both the song and how it ended up in Mirror Mirror
The makers of MM got inspired by the Iranian singer (but it took them some time to find out who she was, she was originally mistaken for Indian), then they found out that the story of that song goes back a good deal farther (the soundtrack from another movie).

Yes, this was intended to be Bollywood style. The song came into it originally in the belief that it came from there too.
Btw, Miss Collins sings this herself (unlike e.g. Audrey Hepburn who did sing in My Fair Lady but got dubbed over by a professional despite having delivered quite a respectable performance).
