This is probably more suitable for Mythbusters than anywhere else, but a while back I heard something: supposedly, a Twinkie is so full of chemicals that you could stick one on a fence post and it won't break down in the elements.

I decided to try it for myself and see.  I have five posts on my fence.  Repeatability is the key to any good scientific experiment, so I got five Twinkies (one for each post - they come in two-packs, so I ate the extra one ) from the grocery store and five six-inch nails (though when they're that size, they're spikes, really) from the hardware store.

I slid a Twinkie onto each nail kebab-style, took them and a ladder out to the backyard, and banged a Twinkie-spike into the top of each fence post.

The next morning, I went out to see how things were coming.  To my surprise, the Twinkies were gone!  There were just five bare nails sticking up, completely bereft of Twinkies.

But suddenly, I saw something moving at the end of the fence.  It was a squirrel, looking very stuffed, cramming the last bit of Twinkie into its mouth.  It had eaten every one... from the first to the last post.
