Something often forgotten/ignored is the policy of the major wireless companies not to allow any communication with wireless sets of their competitors, e.g. Marconi operators were only allowed to 'talk' to other Marconi operators. That was one of the first rules to change after the disaster.
'Unsinkable' was clearly defined at the time. Had the ship taken the iceberg heads-on, there would have been massive damage and likely some loss of life but the ship would have stayed afloat.
Btw, the often criticized 'full astern, full rudder to port' order was, as per simulations, actually the right thing to do while an attempted evasion at full ahead (the default option) would have led to the stern crashing against the iceberg sideways.
