That reminds me a variation of a saying in Spanish quite hard to translate, the original saying more or less goes 'to foolish words, deaf ears' (a palabras necias oídos sordos), but variation: 'a palabras embarazosas oídos anticonceptivos' (to embarrassing words, contraceptive ears) uses a the double meaning of the word embarazoso (embarrassed) because the root of the word in Spanish comes from the word 'pregnant' (embarazado/a).

I'm positive there are lots of murricans that think that the English don't speak English.

*There are plenty of Liberal parties around, some were or are quite dominant.

**In Spain it may mean sexually liberated, and occasionally that same meaning is used in LatAm but only in context.
