After spending a week very close to a huge Army base...and talking to people, I wish the cartoonists could really get the gut level reactions of the families to some of the political rhetoric.

When 9 year old kids refer to the Commander in Chief as the Head Chickenhawk...and the Mom almost has a coronary because her husband would be in trouble if it got back to his CO that his kid had said it...and the kid can explain his position succinctly PLUS point out the errors that Bushco has made, then there's a LOT of discussion going on.

Dad's being deployed to Afghanistan again...kid's mad. Dad's been in Afghanistan twice already, and done two 11 month stints in Iraq, with 45 days between the two so that he could recuperate from a broken leg.

Our military is being abused to a morally dangerous point. It must stop.
