And she is to much of a lady to say a word. but I bet  the darling Opsalette did not forget, and those are the best birthday wishes of all-those from our daughters.

I did see she posted it on the calender, and knew it was coming...  but dropped the ball.

I am bad with birthdays-- I don't do anything about mine and the girls are so vocal about theirs (gimmie, gimmie and I want_________ ) that I can not forget them
but otherwise-- I am not a good friend when it comes to birthdays. It is one of the things I like least about myself, birthdays are a day to tell someone that they matter (in some way) to you and that you are glad they are in the universe.

To my shame I must admit that I have a very bad memory concerning birthdays too. I know my own and those of my parents but the latter only because they lie on dates that also carry another meaning. My father on Boxing Day, my mother on my name day*. The latter was unknown to me (and her) until I checked a reference book at the library out of curiosity. The birthdays of my two elder brothers elude me every year. A cluster of relatives in Western Germany have their birthdays in early April. i.e. shortly after my own, so I tend to remember those (but have to look up the exact dates).

*just for the record: I am not a papist saint-worshipper!!!!

The calendar is still on the site, I just took the mini-calendar off the home page.  The latest events which should include birthdays is still there.  It's just not as much of a performance hit as the mini-calendar.  I took the mini-calendar off the home page of almost all my sites.

Some of the events on the calendar aren't set to repeat so they only show up once.  I'm fixing a few of them.

I'm just back from a trip to the islands, mon. (Okay, these islands are about four and a half miles away from me by car on the US eastern shore.) Biked all over the place ...ahh- beach biking- no hills! Saw a line of eight or nine Sika deer splashing in a row through a wide wetland, and it looked like civilization had not yet begun. Noice, noice. Lartsa beer and wine, too. A good chill was had by all.

I know we had a thrread in here that listed everyone's birthdays. I started trying to put in everyone's birthday as recurring events in the mini-calendar, but it was such a chore I only got to May. (You have to put in the hours of the birthday and it has to be more than 24 to make recurring status, as I recall.)

There's a little check box to make it an all-day event.  That is easier.

Leave it to me to do it the hard way. I still can't find the birthday thread, though.
