I think there is agreement that any power play (violence, threats, 'grade improvement', etc) should be harshly dealt with.

The age of consent is a legal barrier that varies from one locale to other, it doesn't qualify the emotional awareness of those involved. IOW those involved may or may not be breaking the law of the land and in consequence it may or may not be a dissuasive argument.

Once those arguments are out of the way, ie, the teacher is NOT playing power games and (s)he is NOT committing statutory rape, what is the moral status of the event?
