I might have read the first book, but if I did, it obviously didn't leave much of an impression on me since I cannot even remember for sure.
The CIA is looking for you.
The KGB is smarter than you think.
Brainwash mentalities to control the system.
Using TV and movies - religions of course.
Yes, the world is headed for destruction.
Is it a nuclear war?
What are you asking for?

Bruder Cuzzen

The lion , Witch , And The Wardrobe , i read it in '71 .
I loved it , as well as the BBC production and the Hollywoodland version .
I don't think i read any other of the series though .

I think the BBC version respected the author's  intention to leave as much as possible to the imagination of the recipient (they would have lacked the money anyway  ;)) and did a good job in general. The children have to imagine the armies where there are just 2-3 actors and the animals behind the actors in deliberately non-illusionist costumes. Some may think the White Witch acted too 'theatrically' but I think that was deliberate and hit the exact right tone.
I actually felt reminded of the introduction to Henry V. in the Olivier version with the chorus' appeal to the imagination of the audience.

Iirc the BBC adaption also kept the "preaching" on a tolerable level.

One occasion where the BBC failed though was in the adaption of The Silver Chair. That rubber snake Rilian has to stab at the climax is among the most ridiculous props I can remember ever to have seen.
Knurrhähne sind eßbar aber empfehlen würde ich das nicht unbedingt.
The aspitriglos is edible though I do not actually recommend it.
