Krog Mandoon was funny enough at times, but I always forgot when it was on and only watched a few episodes.

excuse me but ...

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!

I did it, I did it, I did it
3 long months in the chute (background checks and all ya know)
and finally
I can give notice at the insane factory tomorrow and start my new job the 27th.

Oh sure mixed feelings- like don't want to trade one mess for a worse one but my current job has kicked me in the teeth one too many times.

So happy anticipation, natural and probably smart anxiety over the new deal.
Overall

:fireworks_spread:

It's total communications (911, police, fire, rescue, etc) with no on the foot (security walk about for hours and hours) work like current job. yes, a bit more pay, they pay all my insurance, they contribute 10% of my pay to retirement no matter how much I contribute and 10% is good. I will have a longer commute and will have to rotate shifts every 4 months but overall I am excited.

Way to go, Anth!!

On a somewhat less life-changing note, my performance at the coffee shop went well tonight - I did Old Hippie Blues (Tom Rush), The Colonoscopy Song (me), Little Martha (Duane Allman) and Lonely Stranger (Clapton). No major screwups on guitar, and the vocals were much better than usual. Tomorrow I'm supposedly playing at Dick and Bunnie's 50th anniversary party.

I can play A minor and E minor chords (legacy of a Floyd upbringing and not generally in huge demand for wedding and parties) if someone else can do the rest.

Enjoy the new job and the daylight.

Or how about the terminally cool CM7? This is the nifty between-lyrics resolving chord in the Allman Brothers' Melissa, right before the B/rest/"for sweet Melissa..." Real easy 2-finger chord with lotsa soul. x-3-2-0-0-0

If you know Em7 (0-2-2-0-3-0) and A7 (x-0-2-0-2-0), you can play Down By The River by Neil Young. Great chords to practice leads over, and very easy changes both ways. Mix it up with hammer-ons and such and it sounds really nice.

The Big Anniversary Party went really well - I sat in with the band for over an hour, and later played with a couple of the family members that were there. I only knew about two of the songs we played, but they were playing pretty straightforward stuff and it was real easy to pick up on the ones I didn't know. The band's guitarist turned out to have the same last name as me, so we're undoubtedly related somehow. He was up from SC, sitting in with his friends' band, so I didn't feel like a fifth wheel - more like a sixth. It was lots of fun, even though my hand and fingers were really, really sore when I finally packed it in.

That sounds like fun, my guitar is on its stand most of the time (good chords BTW).

On the may be good news front, yesterday a got a call from a friend from a chorus asking me if I wanted to sing Mozart's Requiem. It's a bit far (about 1:30 - 2 h drive) but it I miss singing (I haven't for the past year) and the requiem is a favorite. We'll see how it goes.

Have you been there before? I went as a kid. It's got some good tunnels and water catchment stuff to explore inside the Rock.  The landing used to be fun as Franco's Spain wasn't too friendly when it came to airspace.
