I'm moving back to BC in a month!

I was planning to take 3 months holiday, but I think I'm going to make it permanent.  I was supposed to move back in with Mom and Dad for the holiday (might still start there), but I found a room for rent in a house NEXT TO THE ONE I GREW UP IN! for a good price if I want to just jump into renting.  0.9 acres with garden space and a cherry tree, owner is often away for work, an indoor climbing wall.  I had a friend who lived in that house so I've been in, on top of (and jumped off), and underneath this place.  Not sure if I'll take the room yet, but - wow!

first time I got drunk was there, too ;)

I was planning on moving in with M&P for a few months, but my sis pointed out that I can just as easily take the place and then stay over at their house when they'd like me to visit.  That way I wouldn't be cluttering up the joint or risk overstaying my welcome. ;)

I plan to be in that area frequently in any case, because one of my best friends lives out that way and I'll be over at his place doing some inventing and scheming (he's got a big workshop).  I can ride my bike over just like when I was a kid!

I'm trying to figure out if that's in the basement or the sunroom/addition where we used to spin vinyl and jam.  :D

That's crazy cool! Needs some sort of webcam and a remote control arm so we can knock you off over the internet. :D

Opsa

Hee hee. Sounds wonderful. What's the rent like?

Aggie

$400-ish.  Cheap enough that I wouldn't feel bad if I'm not there full-time.  I am starting to think more that it'll be nice to have two places to retreat to.  As mentioned, I will be spending a fair bit of time out in Lavington, so this'd save me a 60 km round trip from my parent's place (town is halfway between the two), and the gas savings will offset the rent a bit.  I should be able to carpool & bike a bit for social activities as well.  I'm going to set my old bike up as a commuter wagon, put some semislicks and a rack on the beast.

Sounds cool. It's a good idea to have an alternative to the parent's space. Much as we love them, it can sometimes be hard to live with them as an adult.

Aggie

It was planned to be a temporary holiday, so if I'm making it permanent I need proper digs.  I wouldn't have minded staying there for the first 3 months, but this place looks too fortuitous to pass up (and three months rent is less than what I pay for a month now, so I can justify it.  Mom's territorial about her ceramic-top stove, too, and this place looks like it has gas burners (joy!).  Maybe I won't be banished to cooking outdoors.

Nice to have access to some garden space that doesn't need to be netted off to keep the deer at bay, too.  M&P's is close to the lake, though, so I daresay I'll be hanging around a lot in the summer. ;)

At last the package from Iceland has arrived completing my LazyTown collection :itsagirl: :giggle: ;)
Knurrhähne sind eßbar aber empfehlen würde ich das nicht unbedingt.
The aspitriglos is edible though I do not actually recommend it.

Waiting a long time?  I seem to remember you talking about it months back (admittedly, my sense of time is completely distorted).

This time the problem was that most Icelandic Online shops had switched to ordering procedures that implicitly required residence there (like only allowing Icelandic postal codes and asking the Kennitala, a personal identification number every resident and native has).
I got some stuff before that change and some from a very expensive (through massive delivery fees) store that has an international presence. But the second series (and some CDs) were not available there. It took me a very long time to get an answer from one of the shops that had the material catalogued by going through all my email addresses and experimenting with different subject headings. Only after I managed to translate the heading into Icelandic I got through. Then there was a bit of confusion about the mode of payment and how to get that info to them safely (not helped by me mistyping the credit card number). Then they sent it without notifying me.
Since Iceland is not EU, stuff has to go through customs and those guys are totally unpredictable. In extreme cases it will take months before they even notify you that they are sitting on your parcel and give you the info where and how to ransom it. So, for quite some time I was in information limbo.
Time to work on my series of essays ont he topic of LazyTown :D
