With apologies to Good morning Vietnam

For all you northern hemisphere types shivering in your socks, I thought I'd let you know that yesterday in Melbourne the temperature was 37°C (99°F), today's forecast is for 43°C (109°F) and the following three days are forecast to be 41°C (106°F).  Overnight is is likely to only get down to 25-29°C (79-84°F), so sleepless nights seem the order of the day - thank heavens (actually my electrician) for the ceiling fan in the bedroom.

If this comes to pass it will be the hottest four days in about a hundred years.  After that it's still going to be around 30°C (86°F) for the rest of the outlook period, which is not as hot, but it's not exactly a cool change either.

Can someone please send me something cold, please?  Pretty please?

Come visit here! It's like in 60s and therefore nice and cool.
But you'll have to go home come April. Our summers are regularly like yours. 110*F in the shade.

Alternately, I can ship you a frozen orange or peach.  ;)

After a few coldish days the temperature is going up here (as usual) today we reached 80F/26.6C and we're suppose to get 82F/28C feeling like 86F/30C on Thursday.

How's the humidity where you live Blue?

Ooh, sounds like summer back home.   :D
WWDDD?

Swatopluk

If it's dry enough and no wind then -27°C are not that bad (without those condtions even 0°C can be extremly uncomfortable).
Anything above +25°C on the other hand is not to my liking (except in the bathtub or in the sauna but those events tend to not extend beyond an hour)

Would you like some cooling rain? We have plenty here...

Well, you don't want any of the weather we are experiencing here I'm sure. It's around 0°C and we've had the same shade of grey since October!

It's warmer than usual here too, this is supposed to be the coldest period of the year around here +20 years ago it was usually -10 to -20°C with even deeper cold dips at least two or three times during the January- February and early Mars period.

:( I miss my winters!

Well, it's just gone midnight and it's still well above 30°C.  No relief in sight, the latest forcast has the outlook temps higher, tommorrow is supposedly 43°C again.  We are not amused.

PS, could some friendly Admin fix the typo in the title of this thread, please?  The "hat" should be "hot".  Ta in advance...

Well, we managed 4 days in a row above 43°C, with the hottest being over 45°C (113°F)  It was the longest, hottest stretch for Melbourne on record (ie, in 150 years).  Yesterday was a comparitively mild 35°C which we would normally consider to be too hot , and today's around 31°C - much more sensible.  Funny how your perspective changes, eh?

In light of the recent and ongoing catastrophe over there , I wish I hadn't made my previous quip .

My thoughts and concerns are with you and your country Blue  :-[.

Please!  Never apologise for good humour, dearest Sibling BC!

It is true that we have had some great tragedy here, indeed very close to where I live.  But it is a truth that when times are at their absolute worst it brings out the best in people.  There have been truly inspirational stories of people surviving the fire, saving others.  Many, many people have made Hurculean efforts to bring relief and comfort to those effected.  The good work goes on and will do so for a long time to come.  One thing about the Australian character is the idea that you help out your mates when they're in a spot of bother, and you will find that mates in this context is a very broad concept.  We all realise that it could be us next and we all need to pull together.  Already people are trying to learn what we could do better.  Remember the fire season is no where near over yet.  It is forcast to get hot again towards the end of next week with strong northerly winds (ie hot and dry) - the usual deadly combination. We can only hope that we survive that period without any bad fire, but fires there will surely be - we have had less than 2 mm of rain this year and with all the hot conditions the place is as dry as.

So BC, please keep up the funnies. I, at least, enjoy them.  I like to play around too, it is good for the soul.
