However, there has recently been a schism within Respect between a faction headed by Galloway (Respect Renewal) and a faction mainly consisting of the SWP (Left List). In Scotland, the SWP existed as a platform of the Scottish Socialist Party, but in August 2006 it decided to split from the SSP in order to pursue a new political grouping with Tommy Sheridan....

I'm sorry goat, but for some reason the main theme of the openly socialist or communist parties I know in Latin America is the one of unity, or more precisely, the lack thereof.

I do remember the SWP strangely enough. They were always popping up in the 80s trying to sell a newspaper with "Elvis is alive, and a capitalist plot" type headlines. Didn't realise they were still around. Assumed they'd gone the way of the avocado bathroom suite and shoulder pads.


P.S. I don't think Brown will be going just yet. He won't be able to get past the blockading lorries for one thing.  I'm sure Caligula, sorry, Milliband is standing by though.
