It seems to be quite complex as far as values dissonance goes. From what I read, in-universe men are not allowed to drive tanks, it's a women-only sport* and has acquired the same status as ikebana, i.e. something quintessential to proper Japanese femininity. But not every traditionalist is happy about that.
Personally I think the intention is to create a maximum contrast: typical anime schoolgirls and 'heavy metal'. Checking tvtropes, the series also flows over with in-jokes, allusions, shout-outs etc. (and put huge efforts into getting the machines historically correct).
*if men were allowed it would lead to the use of tanks in war, something totally abhorrent in-universe.

For you non-USAians, the set is a spoof of a ghastly program my parents loved when I was a kid called "Hee Haw." It featured a couple performers famous from the Grand Ole Opry, visiting country-western bands, and extremely rustic humor. The recurrent characters were costumed in overalls or Daisy Duke shorts and off-shoulder ruffled "tops" and were always posed behind corn shocks or bales of hay. Love it. I dd spot the gorrilla too, but I guess because I've seen the gorilla trick several times. I also spotted a fumble re-inserting the card into the pack, but missed everything else except towards the end I didn't realise the man had changed tops and put glasses on but I did spot that he seemed to look a bit strange, which he hadn't before.
It is truly scary how much we? I? miss. Makes me wonder how one makes it through life at all.

This really happens. Flies get inside laptop screens. It happened to someone on another forum I use, and he didn't realise it was inside so he tried to squish it and just ended up ruining a bit of his screen. Apparently this is what people do; they assume the fly is on the outside and try to squish. The thing to do is to leave them to find their own way out.

But you'd need some backup for full effect. Usually one needs three non-Russians to replace one Russian chorister. I have seen opera productions fall flat for ignoring that. Never ever try Boris Godunow without a full chorus and if possible lots of hired extras unless you can staff the chorus with Russians or Bulgarians (Finns and (male) Koreans may do but are better suited to solo roles). Same for orthodox chant. Even if the full piece never goes above piano the volume (in the deep voices) is extremly important.
And who let those completely unnecessary females in? ;)

Actually what that guy did is no small feat, the 'blade' didn't curve as he inclined the saber, nor the fuel kept going indefinitely (I assume it was fully burned at the end of the tip). Kudos.

I do not deny that the guy did achieve quite a bit as far as gadgetry goes. The 'feeble' is just in relation to the 'real' thing (which is likely not doable anyway). Btw, I found it remarkable that he got a stable beam with the addition of the boron compound. That stuff tends to clog nozzles pretty quickly. Getting it red with lithium on the other hand should be easy (given that he uses methanol as the basic fuel).
