In the latest edition of the Discover magazine* there is a very interesting and disturbing article (http://discovermagazine.com/2007/oct/the-9-11-cover-up) about the environmental disaster after the collapse of the twin towers and how the EPA and the Mayor's office claimed that air quality was OK when it wasn't.
*Ironically this is my last issue because I didn't renew my subscription, and now they print something really interesting. ::)
My current general physician is a 'refugee' (his words) from 9/11. He was on duty at the ER of the hospital closest to 9/11, and went out to the site as it became apparent that nobody was able to bring the survivors in because you couldn't see to locate an ambulance, much less get people into one and move it.
He's 43, looks ten ears older and has chronic respiratory problems and horrible chemical sensitivity problems he didn't have before (as well as PTSD) and he went out of the hospital only when wearing a moon suit. He moved to Texas because he can't deal with the cold anymore. He's the lucky one, the other doctor on duty at that time didn't put on the moon suit and is extremely ill. Two of the three nurses that went out with them are ill, the one that refused the moon suit is dead.
That the Administration covered this up, and that Guiliani is playing dumb is...typical. Guiliani is a jerk, totally and completely. He's the one that located his "command center" in the biggest danger area (for visibility) and he's the one responsible for the lack of coordination in the communications systems that first responders were using.

Right, the two officers I work with left for pretty much the same reasons--- health (and PTSD, and one was in the 1st Gulf War and said 9/11 was worse somehow).
The inhaled was a mix of
everything, including human remains and the kitchen sink.
A guy came around campus for a while handing out the DVD's about the coverup involving Thermite and all that good stuff--- he was heckled royally.
