Title: Smilies
Post by: ivor on February 07, 2006, 09:10:14 PM

The cool smilies are in including this one :toadfish:   They are hidden though...

Where are they? (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v196/againbess/HOT2.jpg)

Forgive perhaps an insane question, but why are they hidden?

My most humble apologies but why would they be visible?

Why not?

There's so many, it makes the reply window look like crap if they are visible.  Remember when I did that at Llama Council?  I thought it looked awful.

Is there a way to get a list of them that a regular user can see?  Most of them are easy:

:punk:

Without the spaces of course...

They are fine. I don't think smilies are very important things anyway.

So we just use the FSM toadfish code here to get the toadfish?
Title: Re: Smilies
Post by: ivor on February 17, 2006, 04:08:04 PM
I tried to make the codes easy.  For the toadfish just put colons around "toadfish" like so:

: toadfish : {without the spaces}

:toadfish:

I put him in the pop-up icon box.  Is that better?  Should I put all the hidden ones in there instead?

I wish there was a way for users to see a list of smileys... Anybody know?

The pop-up box is good.
This one is fun:
:smite:
Tickle should appreciate that!

I wonder if Aggie will be working on all-toadfish smilies? :toadfish:

I'll bet he's busy with his site.  I need to ask him if he needs some help.

There's no rush. I don't want to pressure him, especially since he offered to do it for nothing. But he may appreciate some help from you on his site. Hope he links us to it.

In due time....   Actually, I've linked to HERE on my site.  Probably different site than was being previously discussed, and it's going (wrangling out all the business setup junk now... need to bugshoot soon!).

I'll sit down and burn out some Taddys one of these days....  I DO want to see some other designs, like the lstad we had....

Crabby was a sig-critter for an early Omnia poster who went THROUGH THE ROOF when she saw it on the smilie list there. It had gotten added when the ones Toasterhead made were added, and she was furious. I tried to smooth it over, but I couldn't get a reply from the person that had the ability to add them, so I couldn't calm her down.

I traced it to the origin, an Asian artist who made them for fun, and allowed free useage of any of her works, as long as they were not use in conjunction with violence or pornography. Crabby would be safe here. I doubt the squidlings would bother him much, and he'll be in fine seawaters with all the Toadfish and won't get lonely.

FREE THE CRABBY!! :D

I'm still looking for a flickering candle for the chapel.

Google Image search gave lots of links.

http://tinyurl.com/kbtro  is my favorite so far (almost to the bottom of the page. It's blue... :))

www.jmadden.info/Graphics.htm HUGE one, kinda funny flicker.

www.robinjarvis.com/TwoGentlemanOfPhysic.html     /Quarter or so down the page, but is tip end only...

OK, electric flickering candles for stage and film I can see, but for HOME?? Um, the idea is to not leave 'em alone, right? So they can flicker without guttering??

True. Dorms DO try to discourage much in the way of actual candles...

I miss crabbie.  I miss him so much.  So I made us a new crabbie, not the same as the old crabbie, but still a crabbie.

And while I was at it, I made us some squidlings, too.

To tell you the truth, the more I looked at it, the less I liked the squidlings I posted above.  So I made a different one, though I have no idea what the meaning of the ink is.

Most of these I have already put in.  Usually I used the file name without the extenstion wrapped in colons to make them appear. Except for this one:

:inky:

I called him inky.  ": inky :" without spaces.

CRABBIES!!

Yay CRABBIES!!

:inky: Hey there's plenty of ink to make that bizarro-world squid ink pasta that the fancy restaurants charge $35 a plate for!!

(Order it with garlic butter, black beans and broiled chicken and watch the kitchen lose their minds, because they normally serve in with a heavier sauce and lots of big chunky stuff that covers up the fact that you're eating dark grey pasta. Tastes good, though.)

I love people with huge expense accounts. ;)

The stuff I've used was inkjet black, a little rubbery, and tasted faintly of calamari.  And less than $35 a plate (probably $15 CDN, few years ago).  Cheaper than using $50-a-lb fresh morels and chantrelles, anyway.

I've always wondered how they got the :inky: for the pasta.  OOHHh!!!  I still need to develop my "grey matter" zombie-chow pasta for halloween!

BRAAAAAAINS......

Squid ink-milkers??

Well, since calamari is squidlets (oh yay, now i'll never be able to eat it again) maybe they just de-inkify them before they cut them into little rubberbands to cook them...Had a waiter one time telling people at a new restaurant to try the fried calamari, that it tasted sorta like chicken. I told him that it did not, it tasted like fried rubberbands. GOOD fried rubberbands, though. ;D

They 'hand-made' the pasta, and it wasn't a uniform color all the way through. It was actually quite pretty as they were rolling it out and cutting it. (Waiting line had a view of the pasta making area, and they actually did some of the hand-work on the dough, not all machine done.)

Marbelized black and grey pasta...strange, but yummy!

OOOH!  IDEA!

Butternut squash-an-tomato pasta dough, marbellized with squid ink pasta dough = Tiger Halloween Noodles!

Would there be the possibility that someone creates a vomiting squiddie.
It should be not much bigger than a normal smiley, so it does not disturb the text flow too much. The old puking FSM was nice but we are more of a humble Cthulhu place by now, aren't we ;)
