Title: History Boys - an Easter Monday treat
Post by: Griffin NoName on April 05, 2010, 11:36:30 PM
So........ I finally watched it.

One of those films where many scenes seemed staged, ie. the conversion process never quite works IMO. Maybe I am too critical. Hytner has done a few stage play conversions I think (Crucible eg.) - anyway, interesting.

Had me giggling along the way. Never quite sure if I was enjoying it or feeling immensely sad. Bathos? And didn't they muddle up Oxford and Cambridge nicely.

I've only read the play (not seen it) but it does seem to work even better.  Did you spot he recycled the Michaelangelo joke from "A Question of Attribution"?

Wonder if that exam technique would work for science? Insisting the Earth was flat? Somehow I suspect not.

Zis is perfectly normal for ze Bennett plays.

Don't remember the Michaelangelo joke.

Re. earth is flat, theoretically in the matter of essays, I have been told, it doesn't matter what conclusion one comes to provided the argument is sound
