Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea winds blowin'
I still see her dark eyes glowin'
She was 21 when I left Galveston
Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea waves crashing
While I watch the cannons flashing
I clean my gun and dream of Galveston
I still see her standing by the water
Standing there lookin' out to sea
And is she waiting there for me?
On the beach where we used to run
Galveston, oh Galveston, I am so afraid of dying
Before I dry the tears she's crying
Before I watch your sea birds flying in the sun
At Galveston, at Galveston
Chatty, hope you are Ok.
OK, just no electricity. Yet...
Every county around us has full power, we have none. I'm in Killeen/Harker Heights, have Denise and her broken hip with me. We are 'refugees' in a lovely home with pool. (Belongs to my college roommate, Laurel.)Dan and Spencer are bein' tough guys and stayed home to toss food out if they can't cook and eat it fast enough.
(My freezer was almost full.)
Just sleeping a lot.
Sleeping a lot is GOOD.
Yup.
Gonna go do more now.
Later, y'all.
So you did bail out Chatty. Good for you. Did you have fun? How did Dan fair?
I bailed after our 23 MPH winds (fewer treebones than a normal thunderstorm) and 3 inches of rain...the next day. Our power was cut, not knocked out.Dan's doing OK, trying to save the food...meat from my obsessive shopping and hoarding. (Go without for a couple weeks several times in your adult life, you'd have obsessions, too.)
It would help to know WHEN we'll get power--2 more days, worth trying to save it. Two weeks? No.
We're the bottom of Entergy's barrel though, low population AND low income county, so who knows?
I'm still here and will be. Gotta refrigerate those meds.
Hoping for the best with your frozen pantry!
Could he do a big bar-be-queue?

No way he can lay his hands on a little Honda generator or car battery voltage inverter I suppose? Even if you could I guess it depends on the power rating of your freezer whether it would cope.
Cooking in wine or vinegar( assuming you've got gas or firewood), or salting might save some I suppose, (speaks the total disaster as a chef...).
Glad you're ok Chatty...
Power back on this AM, but not going home til Sunday--something to do with my having to go to the hospital again. Not traveling well...
Get well Chatty, and at least Dan has power.
End of Week Blues. Bet you are looking forward to Sunday.
I bet Spencer is torn between joy that mommy's coming back soon now when the power's back on and disappointment when he realises that power back also means he's not going to get all that meat he thought was coming his way... ;D
Good to hear from you again and good luck with the hospital stuff.
Hugs, Chatty...
