McSame McCain had the brass-ones to say this:
QuoteIn the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations.
Linky (http://thinkprogress.org/2008/08/13/mccain-21-century/)
No hint of remorse, no hint of sarcasm, no hint that he recognized the abject irony of a member of the US government saying that.
None.
Has the man
no shame at all? Not even a shred?
*sigh*
Anyone who actually votes for him is seriously out of touch with reality as the rest of us see it.
Interesting. I was thinking about Condalina's comment (yesterday?) about not invading close neighbours, because I was wondering if she meant it was Ok if borders were not neighbouring ones.
:irony:
Check the dictionary under "delusional".
There's a whole page devoted to the word "Republican" under that entry. ::) ::) ::)
Wait, didn't dubya said the same these past few days, several times too?
Jon Stewart made fun* of it this past thursday.
*BTW his face wasn't of amusement.
He must have missed the memo about Iraq and Afghanistan.
Invasion is not OK unless it is done by us... :headbang:

Ah, see, the trick is, that's called Liberation (tm).
To paraphrase Ben Franklin in 1776...
OUR invasion is legal, YOUR invasion is questionable, THEIR invasion is WRONG.
::) ::) ::)
As usual 'liberation' is a matter of perspective. Both in south Ossetia and in Abjazia the majority of the population has Russian passports and when the Georgian tanks came a fair amount of people crossed the border and are currently as refugees in Russia. The claims of genocide by the georgians seems extreme at this point though, and to complement now there are counter claims of ethnic cleansing by the ossetian militia.
I have the feeling that after Irak we just went back to the XIX century. >:(
Iraq and Afghanistan are no nations, just states, and failed ones to boot (in case of doubt the same holds for the US).
Nothing to see here folks! Don't you liberals have dictionaries to abuse? Take an example in the honorable SCOTUS justice Scalia or eminent legal scholars like Yoo and Baybee (spelling?)
So, a state is a country that can be easily invaded by an overwhelming force, and a nation is one that will launch nuclear missiles to the invader?
With the exception of the Obama Nation. That can be attacked at will.
Let's see if NATO* can mess things up even further ;)
*a good thing in theory; just like the UN; why don't they work in practice?

Obviously, they need more practice. ;)
Ah! The old Quentin Crisp line..... how could I forget that one !
Must've transferred itself to me, as I've just remembered it despite never having heard it before. ;)
Further support for the notion that anything I can come up with has been thought/said/done before.
For anyone puzzled:
Quote from: Quentin Crisp
"When I was coming to America, I went to the American Embassy and the man asked me 'Are you a practicing homosexual?' And I said I didn't practice. I was already perfect."
Puzzle perhaps for the Easy Questions thread: how does one know if one has an original thought?
According to Plato you don't. That concept makes geniuses just 'mediums' though. ;)
