Well, about two weeks ago my wife was picking up my son from school and a lady skipped a red light and rammed on the side of her car with this lovely result:

Note the letters "TL" on the windshield, despite being able to move on it's own power the car was totaled.

This is the best car I ever had and I have to thank the fact that my son, who was on the passenger side, had no injuries from the crash save a small scratch on the side of his forehead.

Today I went to take some pictures for the lawyer (can you believe the lady despite running the red light claimed that she crossed on green and that my son (!) was driving because she saw him coming out of the car from the drivers side?! [as if coming out from the passenger side was possible!!!!]. The paramedics cleared that one easily).

Aaanyways, I created this thread to add your own car blues, hopefully not as violent as mine. I had the feeling we had something somewhere but I couldn't find it.

Had my car serviced last week with the result I had to take it back twice afterwards. <sigh>

Once for a new battery for the central door locking (what did they do? play lock-unlock cars for a whole day?).

Then for a new crank shaft...... apparently a common fault on my model.

So, nothing like your horrid experience Zono. Just normal car blues. Thank goodness your son is ok. The lady sounds like a nutter.

I am so glad no one was badly injured!

What an idiot! and that is being polite. Now let's hope there was a camera on the light and that it was functional-- most 'red light' cameras aren't to catch runners but up there to feed live data into the traffic center so that problems can be caught early-- but some are to catch runners-- in any case let us hope that there was one and that it caught her. Then if she lies in court and to the insurance adjuster then she is waaaaaaay busted.

Best of luck to you-- this happened to me once in a car that I'd just literally dropped the last payment in the mail for--- oh it broke my heart and made me so angry. Mine was the drivers side- and like yours the doors were totally bashed but the car ran fine-- idiot turned left into me.

www.platewire.com     tell on the idiots here! It sometimes takes a long time to load for some reason but is a nice place to vent.

Wow Zono!  I'm so glad everybody was okay.  I hope that woman gets caught lying and goes to jail.  Let us know how that turns out.

Hey Griff, what kind of car has the crankshaft go bad on it commonly?

Renault Cleo - but I think only certain year models.....  Beagle has always said avoid the French ;)

Would it not start?  Was it the crank shaft sensor?

Griffin NoName

It was intermittently not starting........... sometimes it just started no problem, other times it wouldn't - like it needed me to sit around til it made its mind up.

I don't know anything about crank shafts but I just looked them up and found this - quote:  "The CAS is an inductive signal generator, it measure reluctance."

So I guess the sensor was reluctant to please me or something. ;D

Yeh, we are only a small island community !  But the terrible illnesses that exiist elsewhere in the world are being brought onto the island by incomers and currently (very very) slowly killing off our population. ;)
