Let's just post about things we think we should all 'just say no' to.
#1: Palm oil--not only it in unhealthy- it's growth and manufacture are contributing to the loss of endangered species--- only one of which is the Orangutan.
So say no to Palm Oil!!!! like these two darling young ladies did (http://blog.mlive.com/grpress/2008/04/two_ann_arbor_girl_scouts_cut.html)
#2: Paper or plastic--- grocery bags, how about buy some inexpensive reusable ones. Linky to one source here (http://www.reusablebags.com/) and I know y'all know how to 'google' and find more and check your local store for a display of them, or go to the Toadfish shop and invest in a few heavy duty canvas ones :D
#3: Brominated Vegetable Oil: Suspect it in any citrus soft drinks that look hazy - it is used to carry flavours and give them that 'juice' look (Mountain Dew, Gatorade, Powerade, Mello Yello, Pineapple and Orange Fanta, Sun Drop, Squirt and Fresca according to wiki - suspect anything that looks like it's got juice in it but probably doesn't). Of course, they can achieve the same effect with actual juice (C-plus orange soda for example), but that would cost more. ::)
It goes into your fatty tissue and NEVER COMES OUT - and even the FDA knows it's nasty. It's reviewed on a 6-month basis to see if anyone's proven it's acutely toxic yet.
It's one of the few food substances that I absolutely refuse to consume, ever, in any form.
Aside....
Re-usable shopping bags. What a stupid stupid expression. When I was young everyone used wicker baskets. No one ever had to describe them as re-usable.
Almighty Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!

Buy loose products. 'Sustainable' bio-plastic can damage the environment (http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/apr/26/waste.pollution).
High fructose corn syrup.
It's a Franken'food'...and the barstiges are putting it in everything.
It causes inordinate weight gain, much more than regular sugar. Oh, and diabetes!!

Even the Mayo Clinic (which sucks up to the corporate world like a starving rat) sorta goes along...

Butylated hydroxytoluene Usually abbreviated as "BHT".
I see it in all sorts of things, most often snack foods.
Of course, the major dodge for the snack food industry is to avoid direct food additives completly.
No direct preservatives on their chips/crisps.
Safe, right?
Wrong! All that did was move spraying the chips directly with a minuscule (but still too much) amount, and thus have to include it in the list, to spraying more on the insides of the bags they are packed in. No mention on the additive list.
Putting on the insides of the bags means it touches the food (as was intended). But. It's more concentrated on some of the food pieces, and less concentrated on other pieces. Very uneven distribution, but overall the "average" amount is more than when they sprayed directly.
Gotta love them lawyers, yes? ::)

I know what you mean--- my grandmother would look at me sideways over the term reusable shopping bags-- (born in 1900, in the south USA, had 13 children, never drove a car, had what most would call a farm but called a garden to feed the lot---- yeah it was all reused and recycled)
Partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (if you want to die sooner from coronary disease).
Aspartame (if you want stuff accumulating in your brain, that in rats at high concentration gives tumors).
The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs Arkansas....
I used to be ok with this as it is peoples personal beliefs- I've even seen it myself and it ain't bad for non professional acting usually
but they are pushing it
they are adding a physical character to the play this year
Satan
played by an 18 year old FEMALE , wearing a black robe and hood(like a monk).
Why add satan as an actual character with lines and all now after all these years
well number 1 slow ticket sales
number 2
Eureka Springs passed a domestic partnership registry last year-- yes they think satan has landed in the guise of allowing human beings to register their domestic partnerships in their city-- and it isn't only for gay and lesbian couples either.
Peace out people!
