I tend to just get windows smashed out on work trucks, and sample coolers rifled through because they think coolers = beer. (avoid leaving coolers in the trucks downtown, now; my new neighbourhood seems slightly better so far). Lose a few tools out of the dry box, once in a while, if it doesn't latch well on the particular truck.  I make sure to haul all the electronics and expensive equipment out each night no matter where I'm staying.

You figure that anyone wanting to steal the thing for tools would have been able to see there wasn't much there as soon as they cracked it open, but it may have been a case of "well, I got it open, why not take the lot anyways?".

I can see two white vans of similar description in my road fromm my window right now. Yes, no one is taking any notice of them, except me.

Well, you **could** call a friend who is in on it, and place your phone next to a speaker.  Then put on some techno- or heavy metal, and crank up the volume.... serve'em right, says I.

Copenhagen car burglars seem to be polite fellows. Some years ago we found our minibus with the back window removed and put (with the edges protected by paper) on the back seats with only the rubber normally holding it in place cut. The only stuff stolen were coke (and citrus lemonade) cans. The police thought that those might have ben mistaken for hard liquor. But on the long way home to Berlin there suddenly was a 'ping' and the pane turned into glass powder. One cannot actually blame the burglars for that.
