Title: Calvin and Hobbes, 26 years later.
Post by: Lindorm on July 06, 2013, 07:09:48 PM
Maybe you have already seen this, and I am late tot he party, but I just felt that I had to share these links.

Someone has made a very, very good homage to Calvin and Hobbes, making four comic panels depicting them and their life 26 years later. I feel that these comic strips are among the very few "covers" that manage to successfuly blend both a faithfulness to the original and at the same time doing something new with the material, putting a personal interpretation on things. And the comics are very, very good, too -enjoy, and perhaps get something wet in the corner of your eye, too.

I have the single volume edition but haven't opened it yet (same with the Peanuts Box Sets and the big Dilbert)

Wow, you're a serious collector. Mr. Ops and I collect comics, but have to peruse them because we love them so much. We have Peanuts, Dilbert, Love and Rockets, lotsa stuff by R. Crumb even though he is truly twisted but so blasted talented (including the move "Crumb" and his published sketchbooks), Eightball, Zippy the Pinhead, and more.

We love Calvin and Hobbes very much. We even are mildly annoyed when we see those unauthorized back-window images of Calvin pissing on some logo or other. That is so not Calvin.

The Complete Far Side (2 big volumes) is open but beyond reach (as are many other things. The room is far to crowded.

I love that

been foisting Calvin and Hobbes on anyone I like for years... Never seen a character i emphasise with more  than Calvin. Nice to see him grow up and still be far too familiar when I look in a mirror.

and his wife looks Luke his mum  :)
